Objectives:
  • Student will identify and read a sight word by playing the interactive activity game
  • Students will identify words by reading them out lud.
  • Students will write sight words
  • Students will identify sight words circle them.
  • Students will build a word wall by writing.
Tools and Resources:

Optional resources: Preprimer sight words flash cards and word wall activity, interactive game activity on Starfall ,worksheets.
Rationale:
Acting out word meaning, listening to word meanings, feeling word meanings will enrich their experiences with vocabulary. Students' will get a deeper understanding and communicate better.

Anticipatory Questions/Activity:
After doing a read aloud Today I feel silly by Jamie lee Curtis, teacher will focus on sight words that repeat throughout the story. Teacher will write sight words in a wall word and keep track of frequency words. When students hear a given word in everyday language or in a story read to them, they understand and adopt the word as their own. Students will be able to identify and engage in meaningful writing and language-rich conversations. Students will practice in small group, whole group, one-on-one, or re-teaching sight words using flash cards.

1. After Anticipatory setting, I will begin by reading the book Today I feel silly by Jamie lee Curtis
3. Teacher will select and introduce sight words as I will write them in a word wall
Segment #2

1. During reading the story, I will add three to five new words to the word wall each week.
2. I will choose words from your kindergarten sight word list, students' writing, or books that you have been reading with them.
3. When I introduce a new word, show the word to your students, have them clap out the letters three times, and then write the word on our word wall.
Segment #3

1. After teacher read, the teacher will build a "Word Wall" on a bulletin board.
2. Students will build their own word wall by copying the sight words on their own notebook
3. As words accumulate on the word wall, teacher will encourage students to refer to this wall in reading or writing assignments.

1. After students follow segment 1-3 , I will conclude lesson by asking students to think of a word on the word wall and then write 3 sentences that include that sight word
Students will end by giving sight word and flash card activity to learn sight words and practice with a classmate and at home.
2. Students will share with a peer and participate in interactive game activity and flash card activity.
3. Teacher will assess based on knowledge and recognition of sight words and how they apply them in writing.
